Frequently Asked Questions

What is the real difference between the two options?
With the Direct Mentorship Marketplace you stay in the driving seat: you browse registered researchers, talk to them yourself and run your own timeline. With Hire Us as Your Research Project Manager we take the wheel — a project manager is assigned, picks the right researchers and runs the work end to end.
Which one should I choose?
If you know exactly what you need and enjoy coordinating it yourself, the marketplace is faster and cheaper. If your scope spans several stages — or you are short on time and would rather approve milestones than chase them — the managed route is the safer pick. Unsure? Send us the brief and we will tell you honestly which one suits it.
How quickly can I start?
On the marketplace you can search and message a researcher immediately — matching takes a couple of minutes and same-day sessions are common. The managed route starts with a custom quote: you share your brief, we scope it and come back with a plan and price before any work begins.
Who are the researchers, and how are they vetted?
They are faculty members and industry researchers who applied, were reviewed by us, and whose publication and citation record is pulled from their Google Scholar profile onto their public page. On managed projects we hand-pick from that same pool for your specific topic.
Do you cover my research domain?
We span 50+ STEM research domains — from wireless sensor networks, power systems and control to deep learning, computer vision and simulation-heavy work. Search your topic in the marketplace to see the researchers listed under it right now.
How does payment work?
Marketplace sessions are paid per session, and you only pay when you are satisfied — every session carries a money-back guarantee. Managed projects are quoted up front and released against agreed milestones, so nothing is paid for work you have not seen.
What quality checks come with a managed project?
A dedicated project manager, hand-picked researchers, plagiarism and quality assurance checks on every deliverable, and end-to-end milestone tracking so you always know which stage the work is at.
Can I switch between the two later?
Yes, and many people do. Start self-managed to test the waters, then hand the project to us when the scope grows — or run a managed project and keep hiring the same researcher directly for smaller follow-ups afterwards.
Is my work kept confidential?
Your brief, data and drafts are shared only with the researcher or project manager working on them, and are never published or reused. If your institution needs a written confidentiality agreement in place first, ask us before the project starts.
What if the researcher is not the right fit?
Tell us early. On the marketplace the money-back guarantee covers the session and you are free to book someone else. On a managed project your project manager reassigns the work — matching the right expert to the topic is our job, not yours.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is ScholarsColab free to join as a freelancer?
Yes. Registering, keeping your profile listed and receiving project alerts cost nothing, and there is no subscription or listing fee. Money only ever moves the other way — you set your own rates and are paid after an approved session or delivery.
Can I grow my career on ScholarsColab?
That is the point of the profile. Your publications, citations and h-index are pulled from your Google Scholar link onto a public ScholarsColab page, and the reviews you earn on completed work sit alongside them. That page puts your research in front of Researchers actively looking for expertise in your domain, and strong profiles get invited to webinars, expert sessions and speaking opportunities.
What can I gain from freelancing with ScholarsColab?
Three things. Income — paid 1-on-1 mentorship sessions and freelance research projects, at rates you set. Passive income — upload simulation codes, MATLAB scripts and research assets once and keep earning from work you have already done. Reputation — a verified profile, real reviews and wider reach among researchers in your field.
What projects can I find on ScholarsColab?
Freelance research projects, calls for proposals and research modules across 50+ STEM domains — problem formulation and literature review, methodology design, simulation and coding work (MATLAB, Python and similar), data analysis, manuscript and thesis support, and publication guidance. New postings are emailed to you as they go live; if one interests you, log in and express your interest, and our matching evaluates how well your experience fits before a project is assigned.
What happens after I submit the form?
Your mentor profile is created and published immediately — the page reloads and you land back here with a confirmation. At the same time a copy goes to the ScholarsColab team and a confirmation email goes to the address you entered. Our software then pulls your publications and citation data from the Google Scholar link you gave us onto your public profile.
When does my mentor profile go live?
Straight away — the profile is published the moment you submit, which is why you can share your ScholarsColab page immediately. From then on you receive an email alert whenever a freelance research project, call for proposals or research module matching your domain is posted on the job board.
What do you do with the information I submit?
It is used only to review your application, build your mentor profile and match you with relevant projects. We do not sell it or pass it to third parties, and you can ask us to delete it at any time at admin@scholarscolab.com.
