How does ScholarsColab match me with the right researcher?
Search your topic and the marketplace lists the registered researchers working in it, with their domain, publications, citation record and reviews on the profile — so you compare on evidence, not on a sales pitch. Most Researchers go from search to a booked session in under two minutes, and same-day sessions are common. If your topic is narrow and you would rather not shortlist yourself, send us the brief and we will point you at the two or three people who actually fit it.
What does it cost to use the marketplace?
There is no membership, subscription or search fee. Browsing profiles, comparing researchers and sending an enquiry are free — you pay only for the sessions or work you actually book, at the rate shown on that researcher's profile. The rate you see is the rate you pay at checkout; nothing is added afterwards.
How does payment work, start to finish?
It all happens in one place, so you never chase an invoice or transfer money privately. You book and pay through ScholarsColab; we hold the amount while the session takes place; you confirm you are happy with it; only then is the researcher paid. Every booking, receipt and refund sits in the same account, and if anything goes wrong the money is still with us, not already gone.
What payment methods can I use?
You pay ScholarsColab at checkout rather than paying the researcher privately, which is what makes the receipt, the record and the money-back guarantee possible. Cards, UPI and net banking are all supported. If your university or company needs to pay against an invoice or purchase order instead, email support@scholarscolab.com before you book and we will set that up.
When am I charged?
At the moment you confirm the booking — that is what reserves the researcher's time on their calendar. Nothing is charged while you are searching, comparing or asking a question, and there is no charge for an enquiry that never turns into a session.
When does the researcher actually get paid?
Not immediately. Your payment is held by ScholarsColab until the session is delivered and you are satisfied with it, and only then is it released to the researcher. That gap is deliberate — it is what gives you room to raise a problem before the money is gone.
What if I am not satisfied with a session?
Every session carries a money-back guarantee. Tell us what went wrong within a reasonable window of the session and we will refund it or put the amount towards a session with someone else — your choice. You are never locked into a researcher who is not working out, and raising it costs you nothing.
Can I speak to a researcher before I commit?
Yes. Send your question through their profile first — what you are working on, where you are stuck, what you need from them. Researchers reply directly, so you can confirm the fit and agree the scope before any money is involved. Direct 1-on-1 communication is the whole point of this route.
Can I keep working with the same researcher afterwards?
Yes, and most Researchers do. Book them again for the next stage, or set up a run of sessions across your project and use the follow-ups to keep the work on track. There is no cap on how often you work with the same person and no extra fee for going back to them.
The researcher did not turn up, or stopped replying. What now?
Report it and the booking is cancelled and refunded in full — a missed or unanswered session is never your loss. We follow it up with the researcher, and if you still need the help we will point you at someone available for the same slot. You do not have to argue it out with them yourself.
Something has gone wrong — who do I actually contact?
Email support@scholarscolab.com or call +91 92112 16649 with your booking details, and a real person picks it up. Payment problems, a session that went badly, a researcher who has gone quiet, a refund that has not landed — all of it comes to the same place, and nothing is settled between you and the researcher alone.
Can I get an invoice or receipt for my department?
Yes. A receipt is issued for every booking automatically, and if your university, lab or company needs a formal invoice in their own name — with a purchase-order reference or your institution's tax details on it — ask before you book and we will raise it in the right format.
Is my research kept confidential?
Your topic, data and drafts go only to the researcher you booked. They are not published, not shared with other researchers and not reused by us. If your institution needs a signed confidentiality agreement before anything is discussed, ask us first and we will arrange it.
Research Project Manager
How do I get a quote, and does it cost anything?
Quotes are free and carry no obligation. Send us your brief — the topic, what stage you are at, what you need delivered and by when — and we come back with a scope, a timeline and a fixed price before any work starts. Nothing is charged, and no researcher is assigned, until you accept that quote.
How is a managed project priced?
Per project, not per hour, because the scope is agreed up front. The price reflects the stages involved, the depth of the research and the deadline you need — a literature review and a full simulation-plus-manuscript project are not the same job. Because it is quoted, the number does not move later unless you change the scope.
Do I pay everything up front?
No. The project is broken into agreed milestones and payment is released against them as each one is delivered and accepted. You are never paying for work you have not seen, and the end-to-end milestone tracking means you can check which stage the project is at whenever you want.
How does payment work across the whole project?
One agreement, one account, one place to look. The quoted price is split into milestones; each milestone is delivered, reviewed and accepted by you, and only then is that portion released. Every invoice, receipt and release is recorded against the project, so at any point you can see exactly what has been paid, what is still held and what is left to do. You are never asked to transfer money to a researcher directly.
What payment methods do you accept for projects?
Cards, UPI and net banking for individual Researchers, and bank transfer against a formal invoice or purchase order where a university, lab or company is paying. Tell us which you need at the quote stage and the paperwork is issued in the right format from the start.
Who chooses the researchers who work on my project?
We do — that is what you are paying for. Your project manager reads the brief and hand-picks from the same verified pool you would otherwise search yourself, matching the domain, the methods and the software your work actually needs. You are told who has been assigned and what their background is.
What does the project manager actually do?
They are your single point of contact for the whole project: turning your brief into a workable scope, assigning and briefing the researchers, holding the timeline, reviewing every deliverable before it reaches you, and reporting progress at each milestone. You approve milestones instead of chasing people.
What if a deliverable is not up to standard?
Say so at that milestone and it is reworked — revisions within the agreed scope are part of the price, not an extra. If the problem is the researcher rather than the brief, your project manager reassigns the work. Getting the right expert on your topic is our responsibility on this route, not yours.
What quality checks are included?
Every deliverable goes through plagiarism and quality assurance checks and is reviewed by your project manager before you see it. Nothing reaches you straight from a researcher unchecked — the review layer is the main practical difference between this route and hiring someone directly.
Can I change the scope once the project has started?
Yes. Raise it with your project manager and they will tell you what it means for the timeline and the price before anything is committed, then re-quote the affected part. What we will not do is let scope drift quietly and invoice you for it afterwards.
What happens if the project falls behind schedule?
Your project manager tells you before the deadline slips, not after — with the reason and a revised plan. Milestone tracking exists precisely so delays surface early. If the delay is ours, we absorb it: no milestone is invoiced late because we were slow, and persistent slippage is grounds for reassigning the researcher.
Can I stop the project part-way, and what happens to my money?
You can. Milestones already delivered and accepted are settled; anything not yet started is not charged and is returned to you. Work in progress at that moment is settled proportionally, and your project manager will tell you exactly what that figure is before you decide, not afterwards.
Something has gone wrong — who do I contact?
Your project manager first: they own the project and can act on it immediately. If you would rather escalate past them, email support@scholarscolab.com or call +91 92112 16649 and it is picked up above the project team. Either way you deal with ScholarsColab, never with an individual researcher.
Who owns the output, and is it confidential?
The work is yours. Your brief, data and deliverables are shared only with the project manager and the assigned researchers, are never published or reused, and can be covered by a signed confidentiality agreement with your institution if you need one — ask before the project starts.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is ScholarsColab free to join as a freelancer?
Yes. Registering, keeping your profile listed and receiving project alerts cost nothing, and there is no subscription or listing fee. Money only ever moves the other way — you set your own rates and are paid after an approved session or delivery.
What fees does ScholarsColab charge?
Nothing to join and nothing to stay listed. There is no signup fee, no subscription and no charge for receiving project alerts or expressing interest in a project, and you are never billed for work you did not take on or did not complete. Where a platform service fee applies to completed work, it is shown inside the offer before you accept it — so the figure you agree to is the figure you take home, with nothing discovered later on the payout.
How do I sign up?
Fill in the mentor application on this page — it takes a few minutes. Give your professional details, your research domains, what stage of the research cycle you want to mentor in, and your Google Scholar profile link. Submit, and your profile is published immediately; our software then pulls your publications and citation data from that Scholar link onto your public ScholarsColab page. No approval queue, no waiting.
I am a Researcher, not a mentor — how will ScholarsColab work for me?
Switch to the “I need an Expert” tab at the top of this page and you get two routes. Run it yourself on the marketplace: search your topic, compare researchers on their publications and reviews, and book a 1-on-1 session, with a money-back guarantee on every one. Or hand it over: Hire Us as Your Research Project Manager assigns a project manager who hand-picks the researchers, runs plagiarism and quality checks and reports against agreed milestones. Both tabs carry their own detailed FAQ.
How does ScholarsColab work for Researchers hiring an expert?
Five steps. 1. Search your topic, or send us the brief and we shortlist for you. 2. Compare researchers on domain, publications, citations and reviews, and message them before committing. 3. Book and pay through ScholarsColab — never directly to the researcher. 4. We hold that payment while the session or deliverable is produced. 5. You approve, and only then is the researcher paid. If you are not satisfied, you raise it before that release.
How do I post a project?
Researchers post work through Get a Custom Quote — describe the topic, the stage you are at, what you need delivered and by when. We scope it, quote a fixed price and only then assign researchers. Live postings appear on the ScholarsColab project board, where registered mentors see them, get an email alert in their domain and express their interest.
I have already released a milestone payment — can I get my money back?
Once a milestone is released the money has gone to the researcher, which is exactly why the release step is yours to control: review the deliverable first and approve it only when it is right. If something surfaces afterwards — work that was not what was agreed, or a problem you could not have seen at the time — contact support@scholarscolab.com with the project details and we will investigate and tell you honestly what can be recovered. On single marketplace sessions the money-back guarantee still applies within a reasonable window after the session.
How do I cancel a project?
Tell your project manager, or email support@scholarscolab.com. Milestones already delivered and accepted are settled; anything not yet started is not charged and is returned to you; work in progress at that moment is settled proportionally — and you are told the exact figure before you decide, not afterwards. A marketplace session booked but not yet held can be cancelled outright for a full refund.
